SOUNDS & KEYS- Year 2
The Tuna Festival of General Santos City is fast approaching… as what we have started, the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of General Santos City will be having the SOUNDS & KEYS- Year 2 in celebration with the said festival.
The Acoustic Trend or unplugged genre began to gain momentum in early 1990’s. the unique and melodious sound from an acoustic guitar accompanying a love song or an alternative music gained mass appeal over time as acoustic numbers increased in frequency over boradcast media.
in the Philippines, the acoustic trend has reached a new high as musicians like Nyoy Volante, Paolo Santos and now MYMP hit the airwaves of the late and captured the hearts of many Filipino music lovers, young and old alike with their impressive renditions of unforgettable songs beautifully accompanied by their acoustic guitars.
The people of the Philippines, especially the one who belongs to the younger generation, who are known to be musically inclined with their rich culture and varied musical influences and orientations, were easily carried by this tuneful trend. despite the deep appreciation and inclinations for music, the philippine musicians espeically those who belong to the acoustic genre, have unfortunately been deprived of opportunities to enhance and convey their talents and skills. only a few venues for competitions or presentations, if ever, have emerged in recent years, thus the creation of this yearly event.
in General Santos City alone, basing on the last year’s Sounds & Keys, we may say that the Acoustic trend is widely grasped by the young generals. not only accepted as we may say but General Santos City does have talents to show-off in terms of this kind of music genre.
in the sounds & keys: year 2, young individuals from the SOCSKSARGEN area who specializes in the field of acoustic guitar playing are once again given the chance to compete, thereby showing their musical abilities, and at the same time giving the happy people of gensan an alternative form of fun and enjoyment out from the other loud and wild activities the Tuna Festival offers.
